Pendant lighting is where custom work pays off fastest, because the variables are small and the visual effect is large. Cable length, cluster spacing and canopy layout decide whether a row of pendants reads as a considered installation or as six separate purchases, and all three are cheap to change on a drawing and expensive to change on site.
We ask for a reflected ceiling plan with the suspension points marked, then return a layout showing each pendant position, cable length to the millimetre and the canopy form that collects the cables. Where the ceiling is exposed concrete, the canopy becomes a visible element and is designed as one rather than treated as a junction box cover.
Clusters over a bar or a reception desk are set out by spacing rule rather than by eye: equal spacing reads formal, graduated spacing reads organic, and mixing the two in one room is what makes an installation look unresolved.
For hospitality and retail projects we produce one prototype unit before the batch. The prototype settles the finish colour under the actual light, the glass or crystal tone, and the cable gauge that looks right at the installed height rather than on a bench.
Where a designer needs a specific colour, we match to a physical sample or a RAL reference and record the formula, so a second order for another site in the same brand does not arrive a shade off.
Retail and hospitality pendants run long hours, so integrated LED versions use drivers that can be replaced from below without removing the fixture from the ceiling. Lamp based versions keep the E27 or E14 socket accessible for the same reason.
Dimming compatibility is confirmed against the control system in the building, whether that is phase dimming, 0-10V or DALI, because a pendant that flickers on an existing dimmer is a commissioning problem that lands on the installer.
